MINI/Goethe-Institut Curatorial Residencies Ludlow 38, the contemporary art space of the Goethe-Institut New York, is presently seeking to fill internship positions for the following dates:

September 18 through December 20, 2013 (deadline for applications: June 9, 2013)
December 12, 2013 through March 28, 2014 (deadline for applications: July 7, 2013)

The position includes clerical and administrative tasks, giving gallery tours, and assisting with planning and installing exhibitions, as well as conducting research and independently managing small projects. The successful candidate will be very involved in the day-to-day operations of the gallery and gain valuable knowledge about the functioning of a small non-profit art space with a distinctive profile in New York. Aside from duties at the Ludlow 38 location, the internship includes one full workday per week in the Program Department of the Goethe-Institut New York, where tasks related to the gallery will be performed and the successful candidate will gain additional experience in a cultural institution operating worldwide.

This is an unpaid, full-time internship position; applicants must commit to working five days per week. Applicants must have an interest in contemporary art and a desire to work in a fast-paced gallery setting. Excellent command of German and English is required, as is proficiency in the MS Office suite. The successful candidates will be required to apply for a J1 visa in case they are not already a resident of the United States.
